Care +

Appointments +  Documents

Best way to take and keep your documents

PROBLEM STATEMENT

DOCTOR - What medication were you on last time? Are you aware of any
medicinal allergies?

PATIENT - I dont remember the exact name but it was a blue pill.

I was really interested in trying to improve medical services and I felt
there was a major gap between doctors and patients.

Patients
People find it hard to keep their medical records handy and were unable to share medical
information when needed with the doctor.

Doctors
They want their patients to share the records so they can understand their medical history to
diagnose efficiently and quickly.

PROJECT STATEMENT

A system that allows the patients to keep the medical records
handy for their personal reference and to share with other
doctors.

USER RESEARCH PLAN

To know how users are experiencing; services for booking appointments, diagnosis, experience with doctors, keeping medical records and medicine/ prescriptions.

Target users are; patients who seek a doctor, new mothers, the elderly, people suffering from chronic diseases.

 Questionnaire

Q. When was the last time you were sick?
Q. When was the last time you saw a doctor?
Q  When was the last time you got prescribed medicines?
Q  How did you find the doctor or search for the doctor?
Q. How do you prefer to keep your medical bills and prescriptions?
Q. Tell me what do you think about your current medical services?
Q. Are there any changes you want to see in your medical services?
Q. How do you book appointments? Have you tried online booking?
Q. What kind of problems do you face in booking appointments?
Q. Have you enquired about a doctor online?

Q  When was the last time the doctor asked for old medical records?
Q. Do you think you should have your own medical records?
Q. In a crisis, how do you contact medical services?

 INTERVIEW METHODS AND SUMMARY

Telephonic conversation and  Face to face questions

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

kk.png

Available medical apps differed from each other, some were for medicinal information that can lead to self-medication, while rest were for managing appointments. Those were connected to healthcare provided by the government (eg., Medicare). The doctors were able to scan the records of previous visits and prescriptions which is restricted only for Citizens and PR holders.

I started to give colour codes to each person to make an effective persona

GOALS

Jack  25

Web Developer

Lives in Point Cook

•Wants to keep medical records handy.

• He keeps travelling and it becomes very difficult to speak about health issue again and again.

•Wants to visit doctors after 5 PM

 PERSONA dots .png

Scenarios

Jack is a web developer, he works 9 To 5, sometimes around the clock. He is a very hard working person and wants to achieve valuable things in life in less time, he wants to make a difference in the profession too. He is tech savvy and loves to be healthy but he often gets irritated due to changing weather and sometimes falls sick.

Office hours don't allow him to visit doctors on time. If he does see a doctor the appointment does not fit in his slot and suffers from chronic back pain were he has to visit therapist time to time but sometimes it clashes with his office time due to which he cannot take leave again and again. So he wishes to have an appointment after 5 pm. Due to a regular visit to the doctor, he has a lot of prescription bill, medication slip, diagnosis report, therefore, it really becomes hard to find it when the need for personal use or to share information with another doctor.

“I will be happy if I can save and share medical records when needed ”

•He has a lot of responsibility, finds less time to take care of himself and calling receptionist takes a lot of time, he wants to make an appointment on go.

•Doesn't want to take medical leave.

PAIN POINTS

FLOW

Before I could start wireframing my app 'CARE '

  • I needed to understand how users would work their way through it.

  • What decisions would they be making, and what actions would they take?

  • What would they need to see/where would they need to go from each of these decision points?

Before I could work on designing my app, I had to understand the tasks users would want to complete, and how they would 'flow' through my application.

MINIMUM VIABLE PRODUCT (MVP)

The idea may change dramatically, therefore, we should always look for the gain that will be useful to people. So, I worked on a few things very well, instead of doing several things poorly.

Initially I listed out all the possible features that could support the user goal that exists in the project

FINAL OBJECTIVE

An objective to craft a good experience for users

  • In finding the right doctors.

  • Easy handling for their medical records ( No mess, No stress )

Problems that are going to be solved

  • Booking a doctor after 5.

  • Carry medical records overseas.

  • Making people more responsible for their records without taking pains to carry it as hard copy.

  • Having their records on go.

  • Non PR holder and Citizen can have records handly.

User Goals that will be possible

  • Booking a doctor after 5.

  • Having their records on go.

  • Will have an option for requesting medical records while making an appointment.

  • Non PR holder and Citizen can have records handly.

Main takeaways from research findings

Few people were not so open about their health concerns or the reasons for what they visited a doctor but everyone was serious about their health and was particular about the doctor they visit (favourite doctor) and may want to keep their medical records handy. People who are working prefer to get appointments after 5 and 80% of people who will be happy if someone can take care of the records without even thinking about it.

What doctors say

Should patients have their medical history handy?

Dr.PHUSHKAR. B (MD)

Yes, as the history of illness is very important and it gives a clue of all systemic blunts may be present or whether patients are suffering from any chronic/genetic/congenital disease. It also saves times for both. The syndromic disease can be identified with accuracy. It also gives clue about similar genetic diseases in the family.

Dr.Anshu (MD)

That will bring us so much accuracy if patients start keeping their record properly.

Target audience 1

The target audiences are the patients, who search for the right doctors and also visit the doctor regularly. Doctors who will find it easy and save time in diagnosis with reports.

Pain points addressed

Search doctors online, Make appointments on go, Get appointments after 5 pm and can preserve medical records for reference and share when needed.

Constraints

To share medical records through wireless options like Bluetooth, Airdrop or Near-field communication.

Extream case – can take photos of documents

Target audience 2

Migrants with visa subclass like 804,190,160 and also people without  Medicare accounts

SITE MAP - CARD  SORTING METHOD

“Card sorting is a great, reliable and inexpensive method for finding
patterns and to know how users would expect to
find content or functionality.”

DESIGN

Based on the list of priorities and requirements of features, I have created a few concepts of a new system that will address users and businesses expectations, goals, and pain points based on the findings.

Initial wireframe

Detailed - key screens

detail wire.png

HIGH FIDELITY WIREFRAME

I started creating the information architecture and low-fi concepts for primary use cases. Further started to conduct usability tests with the low-fidelity mockups and simultaneously began digitalizing designs.

THESE WERE SOME MAJOR LEARNINGS

KEY

  • Gathering the functional and non-functional requirements

  • Analyzed the requirements

  • Documented the list of functionalities for the MVP development phase.

USERS

Talking about health problems face to face can be very challenging and it takes a good time to make users comfortable to talk about themselves.
